Mother's Day Weekend and My Birthday!

We started off Mother's Day weekend with my Grandmother's funeral and although it was a sad occasion my family was all together and we were celebrating her life.

After the funeral, we headed over to one of my family's favorite restaurants, Mamacita's in New Braunfels. The funeral had been in Seguin at my Dad's church so the drive to New Braunfels was quick. We had planned after dinner to all go back and stay the weekend at my parent's house in Seguin but my Mom got this great idea that since the cars were already packed with all of our stuff that we just head over to the ranch in Fredericksburg! I hadn't been to the ranch since I was pretty early on in my pregnancy... we just hadn't been able to go. We were supposed to have spent Christmas there with everyone, but Charlotte had RSV and I fractured my ankle... remember that?? (I sure will never forget it!) So everyone came to us in Katy :) We were all soooo excited to go and spend some quality time sitting on the front porch and being together as a family. There is nothing more wonderful to me than being at the ranch with my whole family. My parents had just finished building the barn and bunkhouse so my niece and nephews were super excited to stay in the barn! Fredericksburg is only an hour and a half from New Braunfels so we hopped in the car and got there really late Friday night.

It was soooo nice to wake up to the sound of dew on the tinroof and to hear my mama downstairs making breakfast. Charlotte LOVED sleeping in her crib there and woke up super happy. We were going to have a great Saturday. My brother-in-laws and Drew helped my Dad with some things in the barn that he needed assembling and the kids ran off to find "forts" and explore the land... oh and harass the donkeys and cows :) My sisters, Mom and I sat around the kitchen table doing what we love to do... talk and talk and talk (Charlotte napped!). We also set the dates for our BIG Disney World trip that we are taking next summer... can you say F.U.N! I'm SOOOOO excited for that trip!
Dustin hauling some rocks... I can't BELIEVE he will be taking DRIVER'S ED this summer!

All the kids (minus little C).. Dustin (14 almost 15), Courtland (14), Kaitlyn (11 almost 12) and Tyler (11)

My niece and nephews with my parents... Grammy and Poppa.
After lunch, Katherine, Charlotte and I headed in to town to get a few things and when we came back we were all set to make homemade ice cream on the front porch. My Dad grilled an amazing dinner that night and we ate our amazing homemade ice cream and told stories about Grandmother and talked and talked and talked.

Sunday rolled around and Drew and I had to get going pretty quickly before lunch since it was a 4 hour drive back to Katy. We ate breakfast with the family and watched the kids help my Dad build the fire pit. I loved being able to spend Mother's Day with my Mom on my FIRST official Mother's Day (last year I was 13 weeks pregnant and Mother's Day was on my actual birthday, 13th!). I also loved being able to spend it with my sister's whom I look up to as amazing mothers as well.

We were sad to say goodbye but Drew and I put Charlotte in the car and headed home. Since we had boarded Lucy for the weekend before we got home we stopped at one of our favorite restaurants, Dekker's in Fulshear for Mother's Day. They were having live music on the patio so we ate outside and enjoyed it. I had some delicious shrimp and buttermilk pie for dessert, yum!
Happy Mother's Day!

Me and the little one who made me a Mama!
Love her so so so much!

The next day was my 27th birthday! How fun is it to have my birthday and Mother's day back to back?! Charlotte and I had our regular mommy and me swim class at the Y that morning and then my friends and I and our babies headed over to Red River BBQ to have lunch for my birthday! My sweet mother-in-law drove in from Corpus so that she could babysit Charlotte while Drew and I went out to dinner to celebrate my birthday that night. I'm sure spoiled to be going out to eat so much and eating such delicious food! We went to the Cheesecake Factory... and yes I've hit the gym almost every day since being home to work off all this good food I've eaten. Haha Drew gave me a beautiful ring with Charlotte's birthstone on it for my birthday and some beautiful earrings for Mother's Day. What a sweet man I married :)

We had such a wonderful weekend celebrating my sweet Grandmother, being together with family, my birthday and being a mama. What a weekend and special holiday to go down in the books!

Farewell to my beautiful Grandmother

My sweet Grandmother at her 100th birthday

Last Tuesday, my sweet Grandmother, Dorothy Griffin Wyatt, went to be with her heavenly father. We had her funeral last Friday and although we were so sad to not be able to see her anymore, I know that she is laughing and smiling up in heaven with my Grandaddy.

At 102 years old, she was still sharp as a tack and just as witty as ever up until she passed away. The last time that I was able to see her was the weekend of Charlotte's baptism, right after Easter. She kept telling me how beautiful Charlotte was and that she was "the prettiest baby she'd ever seen." I'm so thankful that she was able to meet her.

I'm also so thankful to have been a part of her legacy. She was one of the classiest ladies I know. I'm so glad to have inherited her strong personality and confidence. She taught me how to be a gracious hostess, how to knit and crochet and to always use your "best china, crystal and silver" when entertaining. In fact, I inherited all of her sterling silver and I love using it and knowing that she loved to use it as well.

My grandmother was born with her twin sister, Ruth, on July 8, 1910. To know that she would have been 103 in July just blows my mind. She has seen so much in her lifetime! The Titanic hadn't even sunk when she was born!! She celebrated 65 years of marriage to my Grandfather, Joseph A. Wyatt before his passing 6 years ago. They had a wonderful marriage and life together that took them all over the world with my Dad and my Aunt as my Grandfather served in the Army Air Corps and later in the Air Force and then finally settling down in Alamo Heights in San Antonio.

One of my favorite memories of my Grandmother, was coming to her house for Thanksgiving. We would always spend that week there with my grandparents, cousins and aunt. She served a "jello salad" at every meal and one of her favorite games to play with me was "hot and cold." Although she was a very formal lady, she had a sensitive and loving heart. She also was never afraid to tell you what she thought!

I will miss her so much but I'm not sad... because she truly is now home where she belongs.

In our end is our beginning;
in our time, infinity; in our doubt there is believing,
in our life, eternity. In our death, a resurrection;
at the last, a victory, unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see. -Natalie Sleeth

Oil Ranch

On Saturday, Drew and I wanted to take Charlotte to have another "first adventure." We wanted to go to Blessington Farms to go berry picking but they closed at 2:30 pm so we decided to drive to Hockley and try out Oil Ranch.

It was the CUTEST working farm built just for kids! They had 2 petting zoos, Daisy the milking dairy cow, panning for "gold" or minerals, putt-putt, train ride, fishing in the pond, hayride and feed the cows in the pasture, indian teepee village, and pony rides! We didn't do everything because Charlotte was just too little but we did get to see all the animals, pan for "minerals", walk around the property and do the hayride. She really liked the hayride because the cows literally came up to our trailor and ate hay from around our feet, she was sooo surprised when that happened!

Can't wait to go back when she's older to really get the full experience. If you're interested in a fun weekend or week day activity head out to Hockley, TX and go to Oil Ranch :)

6 Months

My sweet baby,
You are half a year old already! Wow! What a big girl you are. :) You have completely stolen your daddy's and my heart and everyday is such a new adventure. You've experienced going to a farm and the beach for the first time and you loved them both. Daddy and I cannot believe how quickly 6 months has already flown by... before we know it 6 more months will fly by and you will be one. Please slow down time... I want to enjoy you being my little baby for a lot longer.

I love you to the moon and back,
Mama

6  month Stats
Weight: 18.3 lbs
Length: 26 3/4 inches
Head: 16.5 inches
Eating: nursing exclusively 5-6 times a day. You are eating breakfast every morning and dinner every night. We do oatmeal and a fruit in the morning and a veggie and fruit at night. You love baby food! You've now had: pears, apples, bananas, mangoes, sweet potatoes, peas, and avocado (you hated it)!
Bedtime: following your strict bedtime routine and going down like a little angel... you slept 10 hours straight last week TWICE! But consitently you sleep 6-7 hours and then wake up, nurse, and go back down.
Awake: Awake a lot more and lots of playing is going on around here. You love the jumperoo, sitting in your high chair, and sitting up (with little assistance) playing with your toys.
Naps: You are napping WONDERFULLY now! We had to nap-train you and it was ROUGH but now you sleep up to an 1 1/2 now about 2-3 times per day. The last nap of the day is normally only 45 minutes.
Diapers: size 3
Clothes: 6 months in most brands but you can wear 6-12 in some. 9 months in jammies now :)
Favorites: love to be up to see everything, still doing your "ab-workout" on your back when you are playing, sitting with assistance and putting your hands down in front of you to balance, jumperoo, going on walk in your stroller (without the carseat adapter, it's more fun that way!), starting to like tummy time more, you love your tea seat and vanity set that sings songs and ANY kind of music... most recently though you LOVE Lucy and you will crack up and laugh when she is in the room :) It's adorable and melts my heart. You also are obsessed with your toes!!! You can now put them in you mouth and chew on them :) Silly girl!
Latest Tricks: smiling all the time... you are the smiliest baby! laughing out loud, babbling, cooing, talking, chewing on your toes and sitting up by yourself and putting hands down in front of you (tripod position). You also laugh and smile at Lucy which is just precious! You also started splashing the other night in the bathtub.
