FIVE on Friday!

Well I missed last week's because we were on vacation but here is my FIVE on Friday!

one.
we got a babysitter for the FIRST time!
Clara is my sweet friend, Tamara's daughter. She just turned 15 and recently has babysat 6 month old twins! I knew I could trust her if she had been able to accomplish that! WHEW! She is super sweet and reminds me of myself when I was her age :) She had been asking to babysit since I found out I was pregnant. Tamara (her mama) and our other friend Tori and I wanted to go to a movie and since I hadn't been to the movies since I was pregnant (8+ months ago ya'll!) it was t.i.m.e. Charlotte did amazing and it was so great! Can't wait to have Miss Clara back to play with  my baby girl!

two.
O.P.I. Cajun Shrimp
This is my FAVORITE color for summer! I seriously count down until summer so I can get my Cajun Shrimp on my toes & nails :) It's the perfect combination of red, orange and coral all mixed in together. They also now make it in shellac so I love to get that on my nails to last longer (especially with all these diaper changes that are now a part of my daily life!) :) Go get you some girls!

three.
A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet

I mentioned three books that I just finished reading on another Five on Friday post but I just finished this one and it is SO CUTE! Everything Southern and super sweet. It made me laugh, cry and just want to become best friends with Sophie. I feel like I really know her now (even though I've been reading her blog for awhile now, she's just now my new best friend and she doesn't even know it!) Go buy this book and read her blog at boomama.net

four.
Pretty Wicked Moms

I have to admit something about myself... I'm addicted to trashy/reality tv... Okay so maybe I'm addicted to tv in general but I LOVE LOVE my shows (another post on that someday! haha!) I'm a Lifetime Television lover and when I saw the previews for this show, I laughed out loud! But O.M.G! How can there really people in this universe like this?! I started off thinking I liked Miranda the best but now Emily & Nicole are totally my favorite. Go watch it! You'll laugh!

five.
Amazon Prime/Amazon Mom
We love it! I signed up a few months ago and with my new subscription I got three months free of Amazon Mom. Amazon Prime is AMAZING but so is Amazon Mom. I get free coupons on all baby things and with the prime/mom subscription I get free 2 day shipping. I now order all of Charlotte's diapers, wipes, diaper genie refills and any other baby things and bam! It's delivered right to my door. And not to mention we love getting packages in the mail :) This little one likes the boxes!

Why I Want to be Tami Taylor...

I love small towns, Texas football, high school rivalries, crowds yelling in the stands, my high school fight song and cheering on my favorite teams. What can I say? I was a cheerleader back in the day and I love Friday Night Lights! If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with this show. I might just talk your ear off convincing you to watch the entire show. It's THAT good! Texas Forever...

I also LOVE Tami Taylor. Well okay... Connie Britton. But her character in my favorite show is, Tami Taylor. I didn't hop on the band wagon when Friday Night Lights was actually airing on television. Drew was the one that got me into watching it but I can honestly say I've watched every single episode probably a hundred times and I can continue to watch them a thousand times. I LOVE Friday Night Lights! (I also am EXTREMLY obsessed with Scott Porter aka... Jason Street... If he asked me to marry him I honestly think I would faint! or maybe say yes)

Tami Taylor is the epitome of a true southern Texan woman. She married a smokin' hot man... umm hello Coach Eric Taylor?! She is a wonderful partner. She always stood by her husband in any decision that he made. Even if it was difficult she never stopped believing in him. She is an amazing mother to her two daughters and she also is a wonderful friend. She was at one point the counselor and then principal in the show. She was always lending an ear to listen to anyone's problems and help them. And she sure did help many, many people in the show.

Why would you not want to be this amazing woman?? I know it's silly because she is a fictional character but I think it has a lot to do the kind of mom and wife I want to be. I aspire to be perfect. I know most definitely that I am not. But I want to be the kind of wife that my husband is proud of and can say that I stand by him with any decision. I want to be the kind of mother that Charlotte grows up knowing that she is so incredibly loved and can talk to me about anything and I will support her in whatever path she chooses to follow. I will be her biggest cheerleader in life. I also want to be a friend that always is known for being a good listener and supporter and will never judge you.

"There's not a person in the world that could do this except for you. This is what you do. I've seen you do it with my own eyes. I believe in you. I believe in you with every cell of my being." -Tami Taylor

Ya'll don't you just love her?? Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go watch another episode of FNL :)

Eight Months

Charlotte Grace,
Little Miss 4th of July! You are full of life, laughter and of course those precious smiles. You can light up any room with your adorable personality that is shining through. You are such a sweet sweet baby! I love that you are already saying "mama" and "dada" and I just love you too much it hurts! So blessed and thankful for you everyday. I love you sweetheart.
Love,
Your Mama

8  month Stats
Weight: 20.2 lbs
Length: 27 inches
Head: 16 1/2 inches
Eating: nursing exclusively 5-6 times a day. Continuing to eat breakfast every morning and dinner every night. New foods that you've had are: broccoli, plums, kiwi and yogurt
Bedtime: You are now sleeping through the night... EVERY night! Whoo hoo! Every night you sleep 10.5-11 hours.
Awake: You are awake all the time now except for your two almost 3 naps a day. You love to play with your toys, practicing scootin' on the floor and run errands with mama... still my little sidekick and I love it!
Naps: Still taking three naps a day but you are ready to drop the last nap very soon. We are starting a stricter "time" to take naps now instead of always following "eat, play, sleep." I'd like to have you on a 10 & 2 schedule. Hopefully we can get that nailed down soon!
Diapers: size 3
Clothes: 6-12 months in most brands, 9 months in Carter's and 12 month jammies, you haven't grown too much this month from last month.
Favorites: You still LOVE to sit up! That's your favorite way to play because you can pull your toys closer to you and see better. You like to scoot on the floor except instead of crawling you are scooting backwards. You'll get there soon enough baby girl!
Latest Tricks: Scooting backwards on the floor, scrunching up your nose when you smile and laughing, saying "mama" "dada" "baba" and "pop pop." We are working on "bye-bye!" :) Oh you also refused the bottle this past month a few times... a post on that soon! You are just the sweetest thing ever and I just love your new tricks that you are learning.

Celebrating the 4th {Weekend} Deep in the Heart of TX!

Little Miss 4th of July excited for her vacation!

Taking a short break at Buc-ee's before getting to SA
We were so excited to hit the road for our mini vacation in San Antonio. We left on Thursday (the 4th) and as soon as we got in town we checked into the historical St. Anthony hotel. We had stayed here before for Keith & Elizabeth's wedding two years ago and since we loved it then we decided to stay again for this trip.

It opened it's doors in 1909 so it's very historical, old, supposedly haunted but most of all beautiful! Our room had a gorgeous 4 poster bed and the bathroom had vintage black and white tile. The entry staircase is to die for and the chandeliers are out of this world. We loved it!

GORGEOUS!

We're here!
After checking in, we packed up the stroller with lots of bottled waters (it was 108 degree folks!) and walked a few blocks to the famous... Alamo! I hadn't been here since probably a field trip in like 5th grade and even though my grandparent's and aunt have lived in San Antonio forever, it's not like you visit these places all the time. So we were excited to be "tourists!" We felt so patriotic visiting such a gem of Texas on the 4th. They even had people doing impersonations and acting out all sorts of patriotic scenes.
Daddy and C at the Alamo!

So Texas... So American!

Happy 4th ya'll!
We left the Alamo after awhile and went across the street to Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. This was so funny... and random! But we enjoyed it! Lots of crazy things there people... CRAZY! But it was fun to see such odd/interesting things. Definitely gave us a laugh :)

We were ready for dinner, so then we walked to the riverwalk. I LOVE the riverwalk! It's one of my favorite things about San Antonio. We ate at my favorite restaurant, Casa Rio. I've grown up going here with  my family for years so it was a treat to take Drew & Charlotte there. Margaritas were amazing and so was the food... YUM!
Beautiful Riverwalk!

precious little mama duck & her babies!

So delicious!

Cutest little one in red, white & blue :)

Waiting to be seated
We were beat after a long day of traveling and walking around in the heat so sad to say but we hit the sack after dinner. We didn't even stay up for the fireworks! Although... I did hear them blasting outside the hotel windows :)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The next day (Friday), we  woke up late and lounged around our room before getting ready for the day.
this cutie loves vacation!

hey mom & dad!
We decided to go out to Sea World! Drew and I went to Sea World a few years ago with some friends and before that with family but this trip we were especially exciting to bring our little one along. It was H.O.T! Again like 109 people... but it was FUN! Charlotte had so much fun! She actually showed so much interest in watching the shows and seeing Shamu :)

Excited to see Shamu!

Watching the ski show

gotta have our sophie!

About to see Shamu!

Our little family

After we left Sea World, we headed over to one more museum that was close to our hotel, just one block! The famous Buckhorn & Texas Ranger Museum. The Buckhorn features wildlife from all over the world, including animals from every continent and comprised over 520 different species of wildlife including the world records. The Texas Ranger museum has different artifacts including guns and memorabilia from famous Texas Rangers- also including an old Western replica town and the exact replica of the vintage Ford V8 Deluxe which was the getaway car for Bonnie & Clyde!

We left the Buckhorn and walked back to the hotel to get ready for dinner with friends. We were meeting the Leal's, the McLellan's and Matt & Liz at La Fonda on Main. Another family favorite of ours! It was delicious and such a treat to have dinner with such great friends. It was also the perfect end to our mini vacation.

how cute is this cutie??

What a fun trip!
The next morning {Saturday}, we ate breakfast on the riverwalk for the last time and then packed up the car to head home. Can't wait for the next vacation. Taking trips with my little family is just the best!
